  1. Was thinking about and gonna go down the line check for leaks check fluid gonna pull the switch and use a toggle switch and if all that is good gotta be the motor and go from there.
  2. will check it out thought if all you got was noise like clicking or humming it would be a bad motor
  3. Will check but looked to see where it is at and didn't notice any oil the only thing that I can tell is when I engage it either up or down is a clicking noise like it is trying the work but doesn't
  4. pretty not the switch since I can hear it try to work.Thought it would be ok since it would engage but was doing it the garage so stopped the over the weekend it just went dead.I seen and sracthed my head and wordering if I can get at it taking the back seat out.I just don't want to get stuck somewhere and it not working and figured like my fuel pump it is 50yrs old
  5. well got the fuel pump in and they repalced the fuel sending unit runs better the before found I have a bad gas gauge.Still problem with top. won't run I hear clicking to go and go down but no movement so thinking the motor is shot and might be after 50 yrs or so now find out how to get to it
  6. Took the head light switch out and so much easier to get the switch .Made sure it was tight also checked the winsheild wiper harness .All seemed good and did work.On to the fuel pump lol
  7. well good news on this while waiting for the curcuit breaker I put in a 40amp fuse and reached up to the wiring but couldn't reach it so kind of jiggled it and tried and poof it worked went down and back up.Today good drop the head light switch so I can get at it. But glad it worked think maybe add this to the list and get a new switch
  8. Will check it out thimling last summer the guys took the kick panels out to repaint them to match the dash.Tried it again today and neither up or down worked..but like I said going dpwn wasn't really strong when it did try to woprk.
  9. Hey Frosty doing good I hope.Still waiting to get my fuel pump and playing with top.I put in the 40amp and it seems to work when I push the up button but when I push the down botten noting I can hear it click like it wants but nothing .And notice on the dia you sent it said a shorting bar but can't find one anywhere so ordered a curcit breaker which will come monday hope that will do the trick. Here is a pic of it.
  10. Was thinking the same might as well see what happens.. And play with it over the weekend gonna be a crappy weekend plus waiting on the fuel pump I ordered and get that in next week.. Never a dull moment for sure... Have a good holiday weekend
  11. great mine looks just like this .If you see the fuse box diagram that you sent me it like mine also and like the one I have in the my service manual. The power assy in the manual says 40amp and right now has a 20amp and the red plug is plugged into that but says not used on the diagram.Has the top and bottom says not used and the middle two being used .Not sure if I should move it and plugged it into the second slot or leave it there and see what happens when I put the 40amp fuse in.They may have just put in any where when they did the dash pad last summer and not coinnected to right slot in the fuse box
  12. thanks Frosty that was kind how I thought it would work but wasn't sure how it was held into the dash No A/C and pretty sure I can reach under or lay under and reach up..And yeppers I learn to take pics of everything helps in the long run.Does the black lead go into the fuse box from the front or back? Just asking because the wire we talking about before I thought was plug type wire is red/orange plug and is in the second slot on the fuse box
  13. just off hand how hard is it to remeove the switch if that is the problem? The motor sits along the back seat close to rear window seen that when I was re installing the panels..
  14. will it also cause it not to work? I checked all the fuses and they all have power.. Will try the 40 amp next step could be a bad switch??
  15. Was looking at my owners manual and seem the asy fuse for the motor and power windows are a 40amp and only a 20amp in now would that cause it not to run or to blow the fuse... looks like afew from fuse box are different then the manual.. always something to do and learn
  16. Hey again Frosty yes switched it over to an he about two yrs ago pulled the old plugs and they were around .040 Seems ok at .045 but haven't ran it enough then the fuel pump went which it seems to be original
  17. Hey Frosty seems like it is plugged into the top one may have happened last fall when I had the dash pad installed and he took out the instrument panel and lowered the steering wheel he might not of reconnected it right .I can try the second or third right? Both are using. 20amp fuse my fuse box us the same as the pic you sent ...thanks
  18. Morning Frosty ..put in a 20amp fuse and nothing should I go up to a 30amp?Plus looking at the diagram you sent it looks like it may be plugged into the the under the kight or first plug the second plug connection is for window control relay and poer antenna should I plug it in there and see if that helps? Thanks again
  19. Thnaks 64 what I did was squirt some starting fluid in the carb and it fired up but only few a few seconds so disconnected the fuel line and figured I would clean the the gas filter and found it dry as a bone. No gas in the line or anywhere else so went ahead and ordered a new fuel pump .Pretty sure it was orginal just like everything else I am finding just wearing out. Better be gas even at 1 mile gallon should of had enough lol
  20. Hi guys trying to find out eactly what might happening.Took the car out thursday for the first time and it seemed to run really good.. had it out about 203 hrs to the first cruise.Anyway when I got home seemed alittle sluggish as I pulled into the drive.Wanted to start it up this morning and wouldn't start .Tried to turn over but that was it no pop no nothing. The only thing I noticed is there there wasn't any smell of gas as when you flood it out.The only thing I did this spring was change out the spark plugs and the gap at .045.Wondering if maybe my fuel pump went bad ? Pretty sure it is oprginal.Even if it didn't start thought I would smell something.Any idea's.. Thanks Terry
  21. Thanks Frosty that should help alot.Thought it might be a fuse .Aguy on FB was saying it was a curiut breaker and could be anywhere.Wondering if there this a fuse on the convertable to motor also? Thinking I tried to force it down even more the should have last fall and blew the fuse..Should use a 20amp or would 30 be better plus seen that shortening bar is used there should I use that instead.. Thanks
  22. Ok Frosty hope you can help.I am trying to locate the fuse for the convertable top.Not sure if it attacted to another fuse or by itself.Worked last year thinking I over did it when putting it up last fall and blew the fuse..Thank Terry
  23. Thanks Frosty gonna have to try this looks easy enough.. they were using an after market type but sure it will work with my orginal gage and sending unit from the trunk
  24. Thanks Frosty was really surprised and happy how they and my dash came out now on to figure out how to get my gas gage to work. Have a rebuilt one in and rebuilt gage itself and still not working.Think it more of thing that the where I took it is not sure how to work fix it.They say the gage will work and the sending unit will work but when plugged it it won't.
  25. yes I did how much more or less of a gap should it be?
