There wasn't any explanation, just a picture. To me it looks like eithher a 1978 Lemans or Phoenix with a different front end.

This looks like a Phoenix/Ventura (X-body) to me, except the grill has been re-worked to look more like '76 Firebird/Trans Am. It kinda' makes sense since the last production GTO was the '74 GTO off the X-body Ventura platform, until the resurrection of 2004-2006.

Nicely done concept.

Sweet lookin no matter what.

I had to look at this for a minute or two myself Ringo. At first I thought this was the downsized A-body Lemans/Grand Lemans that came out in '78 but the body lines and grills were not right and the '80 Grand Lemans had the slanted grille, not the '78. Then I thought of the Ventura/Phoenix, that's when the back quarter window, quarter panels and front fender lines came into play a lot better for me. Then it made sense to me.

I think you nailed it Frosty... the body looks like this 1978 Phoenix, and, like you said, it would have made sense to continue on the platform of the 1974 GTO.

Except for round headlights, the front end resembles the 1978 LeMans on the left in this picture.

Thanks stratman. You can see how in the above picture how the '78 grille was rectangular and the '80 was definitely more like the 77-78 Firebird. The '76 Trans Am/Firebird (below) was definitely the right influence for the front grille and headlights. De-chroming the bumpers and healight bezels and painting them black or body color helps blend the whole front end together - giving it a faux-Endura look.

Did you notice the stance of this thing too? It is definitely a lot lower than stock. The rear tires also have a larger rear offset than the front tires too, so this is a pro touring car for sure.

Some Pontiac fan with more money than sense needs to build this car! :dancingpontiac:

I found the the article on the building of the model!

Turns out the title of this thread should have been "1976 Judge" as the model is a modified 1976 Ventura.

Nice work Sven!
