  1. Six pots are huge, dude. I've never seen a 17" wheel fit over them. With 18"s most are a tight fit. I'd look into 18"s if you nab that brake kit, then you'd be screwed big time if the 17"s don't fit.

I just double checked with both the ebay seller and Baer again. Both say they will fit my 17" Speedlines just fine, Baer tells me they were specificaly designed for the F body Firehawk with stock 17x9 wheels and garauntees them to fit with my 17" Speedlines. Are you a wheel salesman or what? :lol2:

  2. I'm not planning on putting those on the 95 Bird with the WS6 wheels. I am thinking about putting them on my Firehawk with 17" Speedline wheels. Baer told me they will clear the stock Firehawk Speedlines just fine.........aparently the shape of the Speedlines allows it.....the guy I talked to said they would fit a few other 17" wheels but as you say, they won't fit the WS6 wheels or 17" Ronoak wheels either......

  3. :agreed: ....I expect normal 2 piston PBR performance......I'm just going with the C5 brakes on this car for ease of conversion and and the convienence of readily available parts because I will be driving this car quite a bit on weekends. Also I thought if I get a wild hair to do a little auto x once or twice a year, the pressure cast PBR's would probably hold up a little better as far heat/pressure cracking goes and I can use a larger rotor than the 98 up F body conversion. I'm building the Hawk primarily for show, cruise nights etc and it will likely never see a day at the track, (well, except for a few 1/4 mile blasts on "test and tune night" here :naughty: ) but the Baer set up would really look trick. The only down fall for the Baer set up is having to order the parts when you need them......... <_< or just keep an extra set of rotors and pads around for the "just in case" I suppose...............

  4. That's a decent upgrade.

Yup....I thought about going with the 98 up F body brakes....but I would have to swap out the the knuckles and spindels.........this way will be a lot easier/faster, besides even though the 98 up F body calipers and C5 calipers are both dual piston calipers made by PBR, the C5 calipers are "pressure cast" which makes them stronger and more durable than the F body versions. Also, I can buy replacement parts virtually anywhere. I have looked at the Wildwoods and Baers, but they are pricey..........I'm thinking about the Baer Brakes for the Firehawk because they have a F body caliper available with the Firehawk logo and are a good system too.........another option yet ....... I have read a thread on another forum that the OP adapted a set of Brembo calipers from a Cadillac to an F body. Maybe by the time I get around to actually working on the Firehawk, there will be a kit available to do just that. :lol2::drool:

  5. If we're showing off F-bodies now...well...

    My shop has this gem:

It's a low mileage 2002 Camaro SS 35th Anniversary Edition.

That's nice! Someone has one the same color here in town I see running around......I hope to catch up to him at one of the local cruise nights this summer to get a better look.....

  6. LOL I'll try for pics in a bit...im 45 and hate computers

I can relate to that! :lol2: I had a friend I worked with that had a 72 Lemans....it had the 400/400 bench seat, vinyl top, roll up windows and non power locks. It was a beast......probably one of the best "sleepers" I ever had the privlege to ride in or drive. Funniest thing was that his key code was the same as the key code for my first 68 Grand Prix. I discovered it when he let me take his car to pick up lunch for the both of us because my car was in the shop.........he threw me the keys and I put them in my pocket and headed to the parking lot, when I got to his car out of habit, I pulled out my keys and they worked :naughty: Had fun messing with him by moving his car in the parking lot once in a while....took him a while to figure it out/catch me!!!! :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: Welcome aboard!

this was my Z... I really didn't even care that it was purple (not purple) but, my son HATED getting in the back, and since the GA was gone, it was my ride, so I traded it off for the "de erl ferd" as I call it.

    pictured here:

I LOVED that Z28, but I really don't care for that dashboard, and lack of cupholder lol, so I am thinking maybe finding a TA or Firebird instead. but idk. You aren't going to help that twitch in my eye in wanting another one lol

The 93-97 only have a single cup holder, the 98-02 have a twin cup holder.....both are pretty useless in a manual tranny car though....bad position....constanlty get tangled when shifting..

  8. Sweet bird man, sweet indeed. Been looking at a twin to yours on CL around here. Love them old LT1s!

Thanks....Yea, I love the older Lt cars myself......they got a bad rap because the earlier 93-94 cars had a non vented optispark that was somewhat problematic....but the 95-97 cars didn't have that issue and ran like stipped @** apes :naughty: And the M6 cars still got 27mpg out on the highway...IF you could keep your foot out of it! Hard to beat that combo. Here's a little bit of info I picked up on another site you might appreciate...the 93-97 LT1 motor was designed/developed in an almost "Skunksworks" like mode by GM engineers that wanted to better the LT5 that GM had given the task to the engineers at Lotus. (GM owned Lotus at this time.) They wanted to make the same horepower cheaper and more effeciantly......I think they did a decent job.....the horsepower some of the LTX guys are putting out and the reliability is really pretty good considering how old the technology is now. I just wish they would have made an aluminum block LT1 or even LT4  BTW, "Plumb Purple" was a fairly rare color for these F bodies Pontiac or Chevy...........

  9. Score! Just bought a nice set of original '96 WS6 wheels for the Bird. GM only made them like these only one year only....Can't wait for them to get here so I can them put on. Will post pics as soon as they have rubber mounted and are on the Bird. :Pedobear:

  10. Ugh! That sucks.............hope hey figure it out....could be something stupid like a sensor etc...also ...I think on most all GM's, the connection hoses from the fuel evap cannister to the lines are rubber and can crack.......can you smell any gas? let us know what you find out.......
