a friend and i were discussing the idea of scoring a parts car, and if i could get my hands on a wrecked gto that had surviving brakes and an engine for a good price, and a place to keep it (my mom would probably kick me out if i had a wrecked car in the garage), i'd get it.

though right now i may have access to '02 trans am ws6 brakes. i just need to do my research as far as what the patterns and how to retro fit them and everything like that. luckily my buddy is super handy with this sort of stuff, so maybe we'll have something this summer. the only issue with the bigger brakes are the need for new wheels and tires. i love my 15 inch rally IIs but i am thinking about something five spoke, black with polished lip. nothing bigger than 17".

Yeah, deep dish would be nice. I'm no sure what type of wheels I want to go with, but definitely will want deep wide tires in the back.

Haha, Chaos, I'm doing so A buddy of mine may be giving me some WS6 brakes I need to see if we can retro fit to put on this summer, but sadly if I do that I think I have to part ways with those rally II wheels Suspension work and a new carburetor & intake will follow. I just am not sure which type of carb to go with.

thanks you guys the car has grown more and more on me as to how it looks, to the point where i don't want to change it haha. slowly working on everything, i think i'm going to stick with performance upgrades for now mostly luxury items like disc brakes, hah.

Changed the spark plugs, cleaned the carb, car had some play time. Please excuse the smoke in the revving shot, have fuel and carb cleaner all up in there

Heidi! Welcome, I see you around FBN all the time, but thought I'd say hello and welcome to Forever Pontiac as well, I just joined up recently too.

I'm new here as well, but welcome to the tribe! My first car I learned to drive on was a Pontiac, and the car I bought for myself after that is a Pontiac as well It's contagious.

Thanks Jim. Yeah, a lot was mud. I got all the mud off the exterior and now I have to go around the undercarriage and what not. A lot of it has surface rust but other than that it's a pretty solid car (well the exhaust is shot, but it still sounds good! haha nice and loud). I don't know where I can really get the car apart, a buddy of mine may be able to help me do it over at his place once he gets back from being shipped... but we'll see. I never like to really rely on other people.

Yeah the engine bay needs a bit of cleaning up. Once the block is cleaned off and repainted it, I'll go ahead and clean off the valve covers and go ahead and refresh everything else. I know I want to get an electric fan radiator and eliminate the stock fan that's on the block. My radiator is a bit beaten up so it's due for a change anyway.

If I had more money to play with in one shot, I would've gotten a car that was closer to being complete than my car is, however now at least I can make it my own. I just hate doing things fully on my own as I'm still learning and am scared of messing things up, as the "undo" button on these things don't come without a cost, hah.

Here's some more pictures. Mostly of areas I started to clean up.

This is the original interior, save for the rear seat.

Cleaned up the interior quite a bit, but there door panels are all cracked and warped. Ah well. The dash held up well, and is in great shape, save for the grandson of the car's long term owners hacking the old radio out with a screw driver. The dash pad held up well too, has minimal cracks, tears, and fading.

My black standard seat before I cleaned it up more. The original blue deluxe seat was torn out by the previous owners and replaced with this one, as it had mites (ew!) in it.

Just started to clean out the engine bay before things need to be fixed and painted. Having some slight issues with the carb, but as it's a 2 barrel and I want to upgrade to a 4, that's not such a big deal.

And the really MUDDY undercarriage shot. Car got stuck in my buddy's yard last winter and the car got caked in mud when we tried to get it out. As you can clearly see, my exhaust is exhausted (hah, corny I know). Not too sure what type of exhaust system I do want to replace it with, though.

And there we go. I'll be down in TN sometime the end of this month for god knows how long, so I'll have more than enough time to mess with the car and take some pictures. I'm hoping a buddy of mine will be getting back from deployment by July and we can go junkyard scrounging. He found me a wrecked '68 in the yard near my place, where I scored some REALLY clean visors, extra quarter window, passenger tail light, and some other odds and ends to have as spares. Hoping to have some front disc brakes, a booster, and perhaps a new ignition system on it soon.

Nice. When I was car shopping I was looking at Cudas, Road Runners, Camaros, and Firebirds, and when I got my g6 I wanted to have a matching Pontiac, so I found my '68 bird and it all felt right.

i think i dated someone who has a cobalt in that color. it really is a nice shade of blue

gm always had nice colors, midnight blue metallic being one of my favorites.

Thanks Cody! I love my '68 as well, and have a strong love for Pontiac. My g6 was the first Pontiac to enter our immediate family (my mother and I chose it over a really nice black '08 Malibu), and just 3 months later I finally found a first gen that was in my immediate budget that actually was running and not rotten or in a thousand pieces. I was looking at both 1st and 2nd gens and decided to let the car choose me, and that one sure spoke to me before I even went to go see it, couldn't get it out of my head First time I laid eyes on it in person, I knew it was mine, even before we fully looked it over to make sure it wasn't cancer eaten or test drove it.

I'm so sorry to hear about the 55, Ryan. People really are despicable. The words "tolerance" and "respect" have left mankind among the majority.

I'm glad all cars I own and drive can surpass the speed limit so I am not one of those poor folks who keep getting dirty looks, honked at, or otherwise obnoxiously harassed, but I HAVE been run off the road with my g6 by some impatient tailgator in an SUV. I always already 10 over the limit, there's no way in hell I was going to go faster than that, and I'm sorry, I 'm not going to pull over and let you pass because you are in a hurry to lose control of your car and wreck somewhere.

My dad was in a similar situation 3 weeks after he bought his '72 Road Runner. A guy in a van cut him off, and my dad tried to swerve to avoid hitting him, and instead wrapped around a poll. The car wasn't totaled, but the entire front end had to be replaced.

that's one sharp looking g6! love the height, actually. i think it's perfect for that car. so clean looking and your pics are great!
