  1. I finnally took it to the mechanic because i couldn't fix it by my own.. had to take carte of my baby. so i had a leak and i lost two gallons of coolant...  that was all the liquid when i stoped and started leaking but now its fixed, i drove it home and happy. now that i fixed all the biggest issues i am thinking on selling it so i can  buy a 1968 Lemans.

you can bypass the heater core until you get a chance to fix it. How high is the oil level on your dipstick?

bypass how? like taking the hose off the firewall and putting it in return somewhere in the radiator?  the oil is not so high just a little bit

  3. Hi! so yesterday i stopped after driving the 73 LeMans 350 and when i turned of the engine a lot of pressure and vapor went from the hood i opened and it was coming out from the overflow with a strange noise ( i suppose because the pressure). Smelly water was coming out from down the dashboard in the passenger side but i had that always. I drove it today morning a little bit but it was ok and now that i made i longer driving i stopped again and had that some seconds...

(the heads are new, the water pump to, ,the alternator too and i chekced oil three days ago and it was ok ( well i poured accidentally a little bit more)  the Anyone knows what is happening?

    Thank you

No i would stay with stock. The heat shield i have is to cover the stock starter to keep it from getting hot from the exhaust manifold. Because i was talked into a deeper and wider oil pan my factory starter wouldnt fit, so frosty offered me his unused mini starter. works for my application. Also if ya break down on a road trip the factory stock one is likely available at any auto store.

ohh  ok! i am waiting a friend to lift the car and see all this stuff i want to put it running again! i had always issues starting the car i hope now i can change that to better

The stock Heavy duty is mainly heavy! However i do enjoy the mini light starter i got from Frosty! Would like a backup justa in case.

Start with the simple stuff first like frosty said. Old oil soaked cables would be my first bet to change. Assuming your 350 is stock and you end up needing a starter let me know as i have a heat shield that may fit your application. Alot of these got pitched by folks who didnt know why they were there to begin with.

so i should go for a different starter than the stock one?

This is definitely a one-off, custom front end. The stock '73 GTO/Lemans had a separate chrome bumper (like the rear) with the turn signals embedded in opposite sides of  the bumper. You will notice that the turn signals have been removed or hidden as well. I think the person that did this spent a lot of work bringing the fender curves into the front fascia. It's a nice, unique touch.

The only other front end that is commercially available for this car is the Grand Am since '73 was the first year for the Grand Am. But that has a completely different look from this.

Yeah It is a different look totally  and this custom job is pretty well designed ( i mean it is well integrated with the curves as you said). i always thought that the 73 needed a retouch in design for this front that doesnt really matches with the back and side silouette

  7. Ok so i changed the aircleaner.. i putted the hose that was going to the valve cover connected to the exit of the aircleaner and after trying it i can say it is much better.. i can hear a breathe and the car responds better. i made a carbtiming change too. now it is good but i had to tow the car because after parking it wouldn't start ( had this problem before) and a smoke went from the hood, i think a cbale burned a bit and it's not making contact or i burned the starter.. :(

  8. HI Pauk! A bad connection with the shifter gear , the security system of the automatic .. probably wasn't starting thinking it was in Drive position or something, even if the shifter works well. so i just started moving to adjust the steering wheel up and down and finnally the car started well. I spent all the week without driving the car. lol now i know! ( it still makes this sometimes)

  9. Hi guys!

So i started to change the air filter on the 73 LeMans 350 and when i opened the housing i found the air cleaner kind of like glued to the bottom lid... the air filter is very old and dirty and wanting to replace it i was a bit upset because it is kind of ruined. After that my  friend give me an Edelbrock pro flow air cleaner that is supossed to fit there but the original one has some cable in the inside and thermo something outside on the snorkel.. are these elements importants? should i try putting them somewhere? Also there is a rubber hose connected from the air cleaner bottom to the valve cover, i read about putting valve cover breathers so should i put a breather wih the new air cleaner?

    Thank you!

  10. Hi guys! so i had my first problem. i was driving my LeMans 73 without problems and after park and walk the car won't start. i tried a new battery and checking everything, i have lights but when i turn the key it's like dead. i was reading about the starter and the solenoid but i think there is a problem with the security  bad connection of the gear shifter, i am going to try to acces there and see in the column if this connection is the real problem( should i put off the steering wheel?) , anyways there is a way to start the car if this is the problem? someone had something like that?

It's beeing frustating because it is my only car... today a mechanic webt to see it but he said he can't make nothing, he doesn't know what to do.. ( they recomended me this guy because he works with old cars)

    Thank you!
