I am a Jim Taylor, I don't know if I am "the" Jim Taylor.  I'm the one who posts on  bulletin boards.  I call myself the West Coast Jim Taylor so as not to be confused with the engine builder in New Jersey.  However, he passed away last year, so there should not be anymore confusion.

So far it is looking great, but I will see it in the sun for this first time late today.

After 3 months in the paint shop, the coming out party is tonight.

I hope it looks this killer in the sun.  I should have it back next Tuesday.

So far the quality is looking excellent, but the complete car hasn't been in the sun yet.

This rendition is from a picture taken at the track last week (4-30-16).  I will be getting a 24" x 48" vinyl poster of it for my garage.

The Antique Drags are taking place at Barona Raceway on Saturday, April 30.  Barona is in San Diego County.  I will be there with my Tempest.  Cars have to be 1975 or older.

The first mod to my new '64 GTO was to add a set of Stewart Warner gauges under the dash.  I wasn't happy to have just idiot lights.  I got them installed within a week or two of picking up the car.

I completed high school and college with cars powered by six cylinder engines. Although this was easier on the pocket book, and more practical, it was tough on the ego. As my January '64 graduation from college approached reality, my fiancee and I began window shopping for cars. I was settling on a 427 fast back '63 Ford until I was spectating at the drag strip in San Fernando where I saw something I really liked. In the parking lot was a new silver two door hardtop that looked great. The problem was I couldn't figure what a GTO was (the only place that Pontiac is indicated is on the gas door). Within a few weeks the famous articles on the GTO started appearing. Not only did the car look nice but it also had good performance, and now I knew where to go to see it, and take a test ride. I ordered the car from A. E. England Pontiac in Hollywood where I got a no hassle price of $3236, $3416 out the door. The car was ordered about the first week in February, and my wedding was going to be on April 4. The stated lead time was 8-9 weeks. I wasn't too keen on driving my '52 Ford on my honeymoon. Fortunately the car came in a little early and I picked it up on March 28. Now my only problem was not getting it decorated (read that sabotaged) by my friends. Fortunately our reception was at a ranch that had a barn. I negotiated with the manager to have the car locked up in the barn so no one could touch it. At the end of he reception the new bride and groom took off for Santa Barbara and Monterey in their new muscle car.  That's the car I still have.

I no longer have the time slip for my GTO as the last time I raced it was 1989. At that time all they gave was 1/4 mile ET and speed.  The car ran 10.80 at 129.31.  That's a 4-speed 428 with 4.33 gears, headers, a tri-power and a small nitrous system.  I've attached the slips for the Tempest.  It is a 505 with 4.10 gears and a Powerglide.  The dyno sheet is from 2012.  The engine was not broken in, and I had not installed the vacuum pump yet.

Here are a few pictures of the cars I have now (assuming I can figure out how to post them).  I am hoping that the racecar is stable.  The GTO is currently in the paint shop.  I hope to have it ready for the GTOAA Convention in Washington in July.

Newbie here, I just found out about this site.  I'm into all things Pontiac.  I currently have a '64 GTO and a '64 Tempest, and I have had several other Pontiacs in the past.  I live in San Diego County.
