  1. It's so great to see a celebrity like Burt Reynolds so enthusiastic about a Pontiac, especially one of their most legendary cars.

Although we all know this is a remake and not a true "Pontiac", the fact that there's so much enthusiasm about it just shows me that the Pontiac brand will never truly die. Even one of their legendary drivers (Reynolds) is willing to put his name on a remake. If that doesn't show that a new Pontiac Trans Am would sell (if released by GM) then I don't know what will.

    Long live Firebird!

  2. So yesterday was officially my 27th birthday and a former co-worker of mine who stays in touch at Staples traditionally makes everybody cakes on their birthday. She had been telling me for weeks that she had an idea for a cake for me and the next time I worked after my birthday she would get the cake to me. I was flattered but told her not to go to too much trouble and that I didn't even need a cake. Well, that didn't happen. Instead I was greeted by THIS awesome cake... a Pontiac cake, no less.

Just thought I'd share it here, because, well... if I can't share it here, where else can I share it?

    Merry Pontiac Christmas everybody!

  3. Awesome looking ride, man! It doesn't seem to matter what year a Pontiac is, it always seems to stay in style. I may be a bit biased when I say that, but that's always been my opinion. There are a few other models of other makes that stand the test of time as well but Pontiacs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s up through the end all look like they belong in contemporary auto culture. Great to see so many left on the road

  4. On a side note (since I realize this was such a chief concern of the Pontiac population at large lol), I tried for the heck of it to re-upload my Pontiac Grand Am images and they worked! Thanks Ringo, for your help! While I was at it, I also took some new pictures (and uploaded) of my 2012 Hyundai, my current ride. Its both funny and sad when friends can't find my car because they think I still drive the Pontiac.

  5. Thanks

I just did and still no go. "Image move has failed". I wasn't trying to move the image -- only get it online. I can't move it if it was never on the site (well, other than this forum post)

  6. Odds are the picture is too large, the Garage has different parameters than everything else. Can PM the links to the ones you want to delete and I can do it, as only Admins can delete garages ;)

Is 1280x720 too large? It seems like other images take up a bigger window when I open them and are much higher resolution but I suppose that could be the case.

  7. So, I now have a new laptop and am able to post some pictures of my 05 Grand Am. I apologize the pictures aren't the best quality since they're still shots from videos I had made. I really wish I had taken more photos of her... (on a side note, I will be taking pictures of my 2012 Elantra soon since I have a pretty good camera). For whatever reason, the 'Garage' wasn't letting me add pictures, I even converted them to png and jpg so they would work but I always get the same error message (image move has failed). I also inadvertently made 3 Pontiac Grand Am's in the garage (I only owned 1, although 3 would be nice) and I can't seem to find a way to delet the other 2?

Eh, whatever, the more the merrier, I suppose.

  8. Oh yeah... .whatever happened to Suzuki? When I learned of their discontinuation, I felt like my friends who weren't aware of Pontiac's fate until I told them. I knew Suzuki wasn't doing well but I figured they'd always be around (in North America) for whatever reason. I don't know much about Suzuki but I do remember seeing a lot of their cars in the 1990s and then... not so much

  9. Okay, well, I guess I didn't mean that GM would cut the cord cold turkey but by the same token, I can't imagine there's much motivation to buy a car that was destined to be discontinued (unless you're a Pontiac enthusiast of course). I suppose that's my only concern though is that when I do buy my G8 (which probably won't be for another couple of years, what with finances and everything) is that parts will be harder to come by since it will be well outside the 8 years

  10. I think the G8 didn't do so well because they made the V6 model look like the GT, and didn't really distinguish the base and GT well.

That's part of the tragedy of it is that GM probably knew (or had a good inkling) that the Pontiac brand was doomed by the time they were pushing the G8, which could explain them putting out various trims of the G8 but not bothering to distinguish them or make them accessible to different styles of drivers. Also, I can't speak for myself but I could understand there being a lack of enthusiasm from the car buying public knowing that the car they're buying (i.e. a 2009 G8) won't be supported by GM anymore within the calendar year.

That doesn't stop me from still wanting one, of course

  11. Maybe it's just the song (like a G6) but I actually found the names G6 and G8 to be highly marketable. I mean, Acura has cars that are just "letters" (TLX and whatnot) so I had no problem with the G-series. The G5 is clearly a Cobalt lol. i have a friend who drives a blue Chevy Cobalt and I happened to see a blue G5 the other day and would've sworn it was the same car with a red arrow pasted on the back.

That is sadly, a GM type move (re badging), although I feel the G8 was well done. Yes, its a Holden Commodore (and of course they wouldn't draw attention to that by keeping the surname) but for some reason, call me crazy, I like it a ton more than the Commodore. Of course, I've never driven either one but from a pure aesthetic point of view, yes, yes and more yes.

Also, Ringo, I may be mistaken but didn't some G8 models have a V6 engine as an alternative?

  12. Hmm, that's surprising honestly.

Maybe I'm just biased as a former GA owner but I did love mine and honestly do see a lot of them on the road in CT, and I mean a lot. I'd say it's the Pontiac I see the third most behind the G6 and Grand Prix. Whether or not everyone who owns those Grand Ams is happy with them is another matter... I guess i'm not too surprised that their engines didn't make it past 200k too often.

That said, of course I don't adore every Pontiac vehicle. Like most, I don't get the point of the Pontiac Aztek (lol why was this made??) and not a big fan of the Pontiac Vibe, Torrent or any SUV style Poncho. I know this won't be a popular opinion, but not a huge Bonneville fan either with the exception of some of the later models (I'd still take the Bonneville over the other ones I mentioned though)

I also have to question why there's a Pontiac G3 and G5? They're not bad looking cars but it just seems redundant considering the G6 and G8 are the more well known models

  13. Welcome to the Forever Pontiac Forums! welcomeFP.gif pontiac.gif

I've always been a fan of the Fiero (for whatever reason, never owned one, seen one in person or known anyone with one) and admire those who customize cars as you do. You should fit right in

  14. I'm just picking on you anyway.  I know that some of the GA owners went through numerous headaches.  I had a few small ones myself but not all at once so it was easily fixed before the next issue.  I've been fortunate and I hope to keep her running smoothly for years to come.  Probably helps that I'm normally driving the G8 and the wife normally drives her T&C minivan.  The GAGT has only driven a few thousand miles in the past year or so...

    So jealous lol,

The G8 is my favorite modern Pontiac (my favorite classic being the GTO) and something I'm very interested in getting in the future (money permitting). As for the Grand Am, i heard all these stories prior to buying mine about all the numerous problems and I thought about it but in the end Im very glad I went the route I did. I did have a "Service Engine" light for a very odd reason (EGR valve malfunction or something)... I never even had the part replaced but it eventually went off and stayed off for the life of the car. Other than that, I just had to change brakes a couple times and the headlights started going out more frequently towards the end but I couldn't complain. Never any maintenance bill above 400 (and that was only once, for the brakes). Car would still probably be running today if not for the accident.

I'd be curious to know how long those engines last in terms of miles. I've heard they can go over 300k

  15. On a side note, ChaosWeaver, this Sonic fan game looks amazing. It seems like a natural progression of the Genesis game engines, using similar but upgraded graphics and physics and the levels seem to have some creativity behind them. This would've been a much more fitting Sonic 4 than the one SEGA made

  16. Ah, so you're an old old school fan? I'll admit, the Genesis is where it's at. Those 4 games (plus Sonic CD) were the best ones but I have a soft spot in my heart for the Dreamcast games and after that, it's kind of hit or miss but there are some other decent ones from the latter era. I guess much like cars themselves, people are partial to the classics (myself included)

  17. I love the black Grand-Ams (mine was silver) because they remind me of the batmobile (as does the 2000s firebirds) That is a nice looking "heap" I'll give you that. I had some minor issues with mine but nothing too overly expensive. Usually brakes or tail lights

  18. Awesome -- what year was your Grand Am? Definitely an excellent car.

In a weird moment I had today, I guess you could say I "saw a ghost". I saw a silver Grand Am on the road, looked to be similar to mine and eerily enough it was completely smashed up on the right side, missing a headlight (I didn't think you could drive like that) and almost reminded me of what my car would've looked like if I had somehow salvaged it. I mean, obviously this one was still on the road (mine was missing 2 tires and had a lot of other issues) but I was like "damn... I love seeing Pontiacs on the road but that just made me sad"

  19. >sees username

    Oooooo, I'm not alone anymore.

    Lol true that.

I don't suppose your username relates to CHAOS Emeralds? I was actually just playing some Sonic Adventure on my Dreamcast not too long ago. In fact, this username started when I used to go on the Sonic Adventure 2 message boards as a kid and it was then I invented it. It just kind of stuck with me since then.
