General Motors has no regrets dumping Saab, Saturn, Hummer, and Pontiac

AutomotiveNews recently sat down at a press conference with GM’s current CEO, Mary Barra, where she said GM doesn’t miss any of the brands it recently discontinued during the bankruptcy period of 2008.

Many GM fans have been mourning over the death of particular stablemates like Pontiac because that brand gave us one of the most iconic cars of the 1960s–the GTO.

And while many out there could argue that GM’s time with Saab led to the demise of the Swedish automaker, it isn’t just quite over yet with Saab as the brand is still seeking ways to secure a future.

What brands from General Motors do you miss? How about Oldsmobile, for a throwback?

Well that hurts :(

The only thing they care about is dollars. They don't love cars .... just look  at the shit they produce, and where they produce it. They haven't cared for a long long time.

I think my father put it the most eloquently back in 2012 "It's not the GM either of us knew anymore."

I hate to say it, but I honestly do not see the Pontiac nameplate coming back in my life time, if ever. I can foresee certain model names being resurrected over time "Safari" (last used by GMC), perhaps "Firebird", some sort of generic "Formula" on some other brand. The rest will probably stay in automotive Valhalla.

As a former GM sales rep, I am in a constant love/hate relationship with my GM vehicle. (06 GP), as it was recalled for "UNINTENDED KEY ROTATION WHILE IN IGNITION".  My remark to the Service Advisor at the time my vehicle was booked in for this event. " this sounds like a Mary Barra marketing strategy remark." Drive on Pontiac..................
