I put new headlamp assmebleys on, i went with "stock" replacements because i believe they still look hot.

I also have new adjustable fog lamp assembleys to put on just havent had the time.

I put in a CAI and have noticed quite a bit of difference in power and less fuel consumption.

I just had my car in the shop, some of you may remember my topic on blue smoke, we found the problem, the valve guides are bad, so as soon as i can get my hands on another pontiac she will be put in my garage and i will either swap the engines or do a complete rebuild. Not sure yet.

Valve guides are common in these 60*V6 pushrod engines, but considering its age, replacing the engine altogether may be a better option.

The L82 isn't exactly modern, but you can swap in either an LA1 or LX9 engine. I would consider replacing the transmission as well, the trans from a GAGT, the 4T45E would probably work best because of the more aggressive gearing.

The LX9 is a better engine, better LIM design and makes more power, as well as being more responsive to bolt on mods and tuning.

Either way, you'd need to save up a decent amount, I'd plan on saving at least $3.5K for the swap.

Thanks chaos i was thinking about the lx9, would i have to put a new computer in if i do that or can i just flash the one i have, what would be better?

I'm not 100% sure with the 4th gens, you may be able to reflash the existing PCM with the needed fuel mapping and such. In essence, the LX9 is not that drastically different than the L82 and LA1 it replaced.

1) Not a cold air intake, it's just filter and would be considered a warm air intake, if anything

2) No horsepower gains will be had with that. You MIGHT experience a microscopic improvement in throttle response at best. But it's all in your mind, you think it's helping, but in reality it isn't

3) Fuel economy hasn't improved at all. Maybe you just haven't hit any additional hills than usual. But just like the horsepower, all in your mind.

This car does kind of bring back memories from 10 years ago when I had my 97. Man time flies.

Good times with that car. It was such a riced out pile of crap, but man I learned a lot about cars from it.
