So a Drunk Driver Wrecked My Oldsmobile....

Featured Replies

Hello fellow Pontiac enthusiasts!

Here's my deal: In the wee hours of the morning on April 21, I was driving home from a late-night job out of town in my 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (still in nearly perfect mechanical condition) when a drunk driver came speeding up behind me, rammed into my rear right and totaled my Cutlass. I was not hurt thankfully. I was not planning to buy a new car until late this year or early next when some new endeavors in my career start paying off, and what I really wanted was a Pontiac G8.

However, being forced to make a purchase now and not being able to afford a G8 yet, I turned my attention to a last-generation Grand Prix instead. Always loved the design of those and as luck would have it, there was a beautiful white 2007 GP in my price range at the dealer formerly known as Ramsey Pontiac in Des Moines, where my brother works. It's been very well cared for and it's a huge step up over my (reliable!) old Oldsmobile. It's a fine consolation if you will for not being able to get a G8 at this time. It's pretty much full loaded - sunroof, auto climate control, and the two-tone tan leather seats with black dash and carpet is sharp!

I should also mention, I'm a professional artist - pin-up girls are my thing. I'm in the planning stages of a collaboration series with a fellow artist who paints amazing automotive paintings; pretty girls and hot cars. I have an idea to create a sexy judge with a gavel, posing with a '69 Judge GTO. Also we know a set of triplets and we're thinking of doing one with the triplets and a 389 Tri-Power V8. :pontiac:

Anyway, here's my new Grand Prix:

Sorry to hear about your Cutlass, least things panned out that you weren't injured.

Congrats, I think :), on the purchase of your GP. Great looking cars and :welcomeFP:

Glad you were not hurt. Sweet upgrade and welcome to the site.

Welcome! The GP looks good, it may not be a G8, but it's still a big 4dr Pontiac.

Thank you for all the welcome messages! I was pretty stoked to find this site (found the Facebook page first actually), since this whole experience has really re-kindled my longstanding love of Pontiacs. Also re-kindled my bitterness about the loss of Pontiac.

Welcome to the forums!

There's lots out there for these W-body GPs. A simple drop w/19"s make them look mean.

Did you steal my GP? haha welcome to the site

Haha I see that in your garage - yours looks great too! Did spot one difference though, mine has the sunroof.

Welcome to FP! I'd love to see some of your artwork. I have done some pinup modeling myself (not much! only two photoshoots so far) but I really love it, and I love seeing other work in the genre. Welcome back to the Pontiac family!
