69’ Pontiac 2+2

ISO… long shot?

1969 Pontiac Parisienne 2+2 was my father’s car sold out of Thunder Bay Ontario the car was originally black with white vinyl top and white interior but changed to no vinyl and painted bronze/gold believed I saw a picture of it on a website years back in a barn out west. At that time the pictures confirmed it was still the same and still had the bbc in it and still as I remembered it before it disappeared from T-Bay ! For sentimental reasons I would like to locate it and possibly purchase it for a restoration project!! If anyone has information they can send pictures and contact me here or on facebook! Thanks in advance

Hi Rob - welcome to FP.

I know many states in the US will allow you to do a VIN search at your local DMV office for a fee. They won't necessarily tell you who owns it (privacy laws), but they can tell you where it is, if it is still on the road.

Does Canada allow VIN searches? I would assume that most provincial DMV laws and regulations are similar.

Do you happen to know the VIN number for your old Parisienne?

I’ve tried that and like you said the privacy act… it was a no . Have plate number when father owned it again couldn’t give me information because they belonged to my father who has passed even though I knew the three buyers after he sold it but now nobody knows where it is hence trying this step! Thanks for your input though!!

Do any of the previous owners (or you) know the VIN for the car? That's the only real shot you have of finding and eventually identifying the car. However, if you can pin down the geographical area in which the car is in, obviously you can concentrate your search in that area.

I know some search services exist in Canada but I don't know how detailed they get.

Carfax Canada, Insurance Bureau of Canada, and ClearVIN Canada offer some sort of information. However since I am unfamiliar with their services, I don't know if they can help you pin down the region the car is in, assuming it is still on the road and not totally or worse, crushed.
