1936 Pontiac DeLuxe Tour with 1952 239 Pontiac straight 6

Featured Replies

The title says a lot I am the proud owner of a Canadian made 1936 Pontiac deluxe 6 tour, the car has been doing well but now requires some help on a failed harmonic balancer. I have a replacement but need insight on install process.

Beautiful car AND dawg!   I have not worked on anything that old, but should be the same?  Remove and replace.  Bring the timing mark to alignment, remove balancer with a puller if needed.  There is/should be a keyway that only lets it mount one way, If your not taking it all apart, I would use a seal expander/ stop leak engine additive on the snout of the balancer.  Directly from bottle on your finger and on the seal inside your timing chain cover.  (It swells the rope seal) Tighten to torque spec's.  Should be someone here that can help if needed,  that has experience with your motor.
