Hello all, I just found this forum. I am a Mechanical Engineer, by trade. I have been a car freak since grade school. I have always loved Pontiacs and have owned and restored/modified many. My current project car is a 1970 Firebird. My plans are to build it into a Trans Am clone. I am the type that always gets carried away and I know this can will end up stripped to the shell and be on my rotisserie. This is my 5th firebird. 3 have been real Trans Am's and my first new car was a 1978 Trans Am. One of the Firebirds was a 1972 base Firebird I bought that had been crashed into a post. I built this one into a Trans Am clone back in the early 80's. My first car was a 1964 GTO. I also had a 1968 GTO. I also built a 1960 Willys Utility Wagon Street Rod with a 455 Pontiac motor.

My last project was a 1980 Porsche 944 that I put a 520 HP Chevy small block in. My daily driver is a 2014 SRT 392 Charger Super Bee. I don't like to drive boring cars.

Currently I am working to complete my dream shop where I will be working on the Firebird. I will have space to do this car and not be constantly tripping over everything. The shop is almost 1000 Sq. Ft.

Here are some of my cars. The one with the Formula hood is my new project. The gold Trans Am was my first new car, 1978 w/ special performance, WS6, factory T-tops. Then the 1972 Trans Am clone. My 1960 Willys wagon; my current SRT 392 Charger Super Bee; My Porsche 944 with the 500 HP small block Chevy. The Trans Am's and Willys are long gone but I still have the Porsche and Charger and of course the 1970 Firebird.

Thankz for posting!  NICE

Sweet cars! After a Bandit Trans Am, the gold and poly blue are my next favorite colored Trans Ams.

Some of us are even closet Mopar fans with a Pontiac problem. Yes, therapy has been recommended and promptly ignored.

oh and by the way , all good men need a 392 srt to have a true balance in life !!!!

I like the Carrera script on the Porsche's rocker covers. A nice touch after ramming a V8 into it.

Kiwi - get in the Hellkitty, and stomp on the loud pedal. That will help and it's cheaper than therapy.

Correct - having a 392 SRT motor is a VERY VERY good thing.

For the firebird, I plan to turn it into a Trans Am clone. Body stock but replace the 350/350 with a 455/4 spd. 4.10 posi. WS 6 wheels; bars and steering box. I have located a 1979 WS6 10 bolt with disc brakes. Bright blue interior. I am haven't decided on the color. Either Cameo white with the blue stripe or Lucerne blue with the white stripe.

I already have an aftermarket Power Brute Super T-10 with 2.43 S ratio 1st gear. I will need to find a 455 block and heads. I may have a lead on those.

I will be using RA style exhaust manifolds and I already ordered a reproduction 455 SD exhaust system. Maybe a 744 or 041 based cam with some mild port cleanup.

I will be adding factory power windows and locks. The car has a/c and everything is there except for the dr side under dash duct.

Nice cars Pete good luck with the build

I bought a 1969 428 4 bolt block and a set of 6X 8 heads with 1.77 exhaust valves and 7/16 studs. I plan to bore it and build a 455.

Got a new hood and shaker (functional scoop) a 1974 SD exhaust system and 2.5" HO exhaust manifolds. I plan to buy a forged crank, rods and pistons and use a roller cam. Looking at Butler parts. I probably don't need a forged crank but I like bullet proof parts. I raced my 64 GTO in the 70's and always worried about a broken rod. And now that I have the funds I am going to use all good parts.

Also, I plan on a Strange 12 bolt. Thinking about a 4.10. It is just going to be a street toy but now that I have my 302 Chevy powered 944 that runs to 7200 RPM's I am liking higher RPMs. I just figure Maybe 6500 with the 455. We will see.

It will be a bit before I really get into the project because I need to finish my shop. I need to insulate, drywall and install the mini-split A/C.
