Replacing headers in 1968 Firebird

Featured Replies

Hello,

I need to replace the headers in my 68 Bird.  Standard 350 CI Motor with stock heads.  Have long tubes in there now.  Is it always recommended to use long tubes or are there better ways to do this?  Thank you.

Long tube usually gets your biggest bang for the buck from low end - top end.  Also, much easier to make and run your own exhaust saving bucks.

Depending on the performance and look you are going for, Ram AIr Restoration has reproduction performance exhaust manifolds. These give an OEM look to your car with a performance feel. Granted, these are not headers and will not perform as well as headers. These are essentially factory headers. Just something to consider, depending on the cost, look, and performance you are going for. As Justa said, long tube headers are still the best overall performance bang for the buck.

Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated.

Hooker and Dougs headers tend to be the top brand of headers for most Pontiac applications too.
