Labor Day Show

Justa has been hounding me for years to come to this Labor Day car show. It's at the First Congregational Church in Clarkston Michigan, north of Pontiac. They have a car show, rummarge sale, bake sale, antique sale, and a bounce house for the little kids. It's a nice event for the whole family - to spend money. Justa tells me to get there early in order to get parking along the grass and tree line AND (more importantly) while the coffee and donuts last. Solid advice.

Oh boy the way, Justa was a no show. Seems he wanted to polish his intake some more instead. Didn't stop his wife from coming out to the rummage sale though.

This is a Factory Five kit car - Daytona Coupe replica (with air conditioning). The owner says this is his 5th Factory Five car. It took him 2 years to build. He is currently ordering/building the '35 hot rod pickup kit. The kit runs $30k. You still have to provide engine and transmission, paint, and wheels and tires.

An LT-5 powered Corvette. I think this is probably the sexiest motor they ever made. This DOHC motor was made by Mercury Marine for GM.

It was a fun show.

I need to explain the last picture. I was parked next to the green Comet. I noticed his Hot Wheels picture was upside down and I mentioned it to him. He gave me this little award with a dollar bill in it. It was the "Attention to Detail" award. He intentional does that to see if anyone says anything to him. He also sells and gives away Hot Wheels and Beany Baby toys to kids. The money he raises goes to Toys For Tots. I bought a few Pontiac Hot Wheels off of him for charity.

He has done this for many many years, is a crowd favorite everywhere he goes.  He joined CRO after parking next to me at the Labor day show one year.  He ask kids questions about his car and if they get it right,  he gives them a choice of gifts.  Parked next to him last year.  This show is usually packed with parking in the isles, blocking everyone in.  Small show usually 110 cars is packed, but the quality of cars that make this show is amazing.  Concours to street machine.  Glad Frosty finally made it.  Been bugging him for 10yrs easy.  This is one of my fav's of the summer. Got the corner spot one year with both cars (the one time the Boss drove the GTO) and even gave away a CRO trophy that year.
