Hey guys, so I bought a 68 lemans with virtually 0 rust. I believe its down to the red factory primer. Has sat in Colorado for many many years. Its being delivered to me in a few weeks and am trying to get any advice and wisdom I can before it shows up. Will be a project to restore with my 3 boys. So any help with do's and dont's would be great.

Cruiser. But want the car as nice as I can get it. My boys are aged 11 10 and 8. So I have a lot of time to restore it with them before they are out of the house. Just not sure where to begin.

Welcome to FP.  Engine, drivetrain and suspension 1st.  These area's will bring out a host of hidden problems that can be solved as you go. Also a running moving ride is much easier to work on (even if you have lots of PUSHING power with the boys)  LMAO.  Most of all, enjoy every minute of being with your kids. They will remember this project forever.  They are the future of saving/restoring our past.  Rock on guy's!!!  :driving:    We love pic's, so keep us up on the project.

Hi Michael, good on you for getting your boys involved, they will certainly love the time with their dad👍

i am with justa6, drivetran first, but before that .........

i inspect everything and make a list

i get my head around every single thing that i expect that is going to need to be done.

then i form a plan of attack.

this will involve .... parts required, tools needed at each stage, and the big one money !!🤑, so do your research on all  the parts you will need and make yourself a budget... well i say that but lets say .....make your first budget!!! haha

then you need to plan your time!! and thius isnt a joke, if you have 3 boys, no way are they going to want to spend ALL there time in the garage like you want to!

your going to have to go and do the stuff they want to do too!.... (been there done that, sports saturday morning for 9 years etc)

and that the cool part, just plan a time and day that you can do just some time on the car with the boys.

DO NOT just head to the garage and leave the boys with mum! you will learn the hard way that does not work !! haha

one way to motivate your Boys is to do what i did and take them( and mum) to some hot rod/ car events, join a local club and simply enjoy the fun of being with like minded people.

its really what our hobby is all about, it isnt really about the cars..

regards

Start with brakes lol seriously though looks like a nice solid car.any interior pics? My 2 cents get it running and driving. Keeps it fun and rewarding. Too many projects get torn apart and never get put back together. Have fun and enjoy!
