  1. Hello everyone, I'm in need of some guidance/assistance with my Pontiacs ring and pinion. I decided I wanted to change my differential to a posi after owning my car for a bit and found the ring gear has a chip in it. It has the 8.2 BOP 10 bolt rear end which I'm sure is what came in most of these cars (I'm not an expert on every type of model). I got a new auburn posi differential for the rear end and I have been having one heck of a time trying to find a ring and pinion set that will fit this rear end, specifically the pinion gear. I am pretty sure that the differential has been gone through once before because through all of the research I have done it should have come with 28 spline axles and differential, but the one I removed is a 31 spline, and the axles are a bit longer than stock. This may be what is throwing me for a loop because I have now bought a couple of different ring and pinion sets that have not fit the rear end. The old ring and pinion is the stock 2.73 ratio, and I have been on the hunt for either 3.08 ratio ring and pinion or a 3.36 rario. If anybody knows of a for sure fit ring and pinion for the 8.2 BOP that would be greatly appreciated as I have become very skeptical of what online stores have available due to the incorrect ring and pinions I've wasted time and money on. Thanks in advance!
