    Am wanting to change the very troublesome and unreliable power windows in my 1996 Firebird over to manual crank windows...Should be a straight forward swap..The main issue is trying locate the parts....As very few of those cars (4th gen ) were equipped with manual windows...Actually I Have only seen one (1) that didn't have them and it's a 1LE car...Was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on where to source the parts (internal and external) to do the change....Any input or thoughts would be welcomed......

    Why are they ‘troublesome’ ? Why take away not only from the value (if any), but more importantly, the aesthetics of how the car was built ?

    May I suggest carrying on with the P/W’s and adequately addressing the system’s main symptoms. I’m assuming you’ve problems with the motors, wiring, or the mechanism. Have you entertained going with aftermarket motors, possibly better wiring (including increased wire gauge), and making sure the mechanisms are WELL lubricated and adjusted ?

    Hey everyone, Nice to be back, Hoping someone has a definitive answer for this Question. I just bought a can of Duplicolor Blue engine paint from Ames that is supposed to be the correct blue for my !966 Pontiac Bonneville jack. Question is, is that the correct color for my year Pontiac and not black? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to go through all the taping involved for the wrong color. Thanks, Bu

    I don’t believe ‘Black’ is the color. My ‘65 GTO is the ‘Blue’ color.

    The base and the mechanism are ‘Blue’ and the shaft is like an anodized ‘Silver’ color.

    So within the last week or so I read a post or a for sale ad, may have even been something on this site but I honestly don't remember. With all my charging issues at the time I didn't pay it much attention, but its been chewing away at the back of my brain. This fella made reference to the "original red Pontiac undercoat." Does anybody know what years Pontiac used a red undercoating? I've looked online unsuccessfully. Did they actually do this and did Buick, Olds or anybody else use any color other than black for their undercoating?

    The reference may have been for the ‘RED’ wheel well inserts that were available as an option from like ‘66-‘72 (like in that time frame).

  4. Re: 1965 GTO • Custom Interior Hood Release

    Hiya,

    I know it wasn’t an option in ‘65 but...I’d like to install and Interior Hood Release to help secure my 1965 GTO UnderHood components...

    Has any forum member ever installed an ‘INTERIOR’ hood release cable;

    AND

    Any required modifications OR the modifications that you made to the 1965 GTO, LeMans, or Tempest that culminated in a  custom Exterior/Interior Hood Release

    Thanks,
