  1. Thanks. I put one of the Custom Auto Sound radios in a 69 Camaro project a few years back. It quit working within a day. They sent me another one, and it had a problem with the volume control. The third one finally worked as advertised. I will look at the Secret Audio, but I’m a little shy on that company. I haven’t heard of RediRad. I’ll check it out. I am looking at a Bluetooth amp setup from Memphis Audio. It looks like it will serve the need, however, I don’t have any knowledge about that company. Looking for reviews on-line.
  2. I want to keep the original AM radio (wired to the in-dash speaker), but add new speakers for a Bluetooth application. Has anyone tried adding a Bluetooth amp to your classic? And if so, what equipment have you used?
  3. JUSTA6: I never made it to the Dream Cruise. Between school and work, I was never there at the right time. Frosty: I once played golf at Davison Country Club. Not being much of a golfer, what I remember most about the experience, was buying a lot of beers for the rest of the group. 😊
  4. My sister, and her family, lived in Ortonville for many years, so I’ve been there to visit.
  5. Thanks. I’ll check with them. I see they have a store in Ortonville. Been there many times. 😊
  6. Looking for these retainers to complete new headliner installation. These hold the trim along the sides, above the side windows. I’m missing one, and the one pictured is broken. Anyone have some they would like to get rid of? Apparently, these are not available in the aftermarket.
  7. OK. Thanks. That’s really helpful. Will, probably, end up looking for other stuff, as well.
  8. Thanks. I tried Frank’s, but they didn’t have one. I’ll keep searching.
  9. Looking for a front bumper emblem for my ‘68 Catalina. Have checked with the restoration parts companies (Ames and OPGI) but they don’t list that part. Any other sources I should try? What about used parts? I’ve searched bay, but struck out there as well. DP
  10. OK. Thanks. I felt like I should know that, but couldn’t figure it out .
  11. Anyone recognize these rims? Trying to figure out what vehicle they were used on.
  12. I didn’t post a pic of the front seat, but you’re right, it looks just like the back seat - damaged across the top of the seat, but otherwise, looks like it’s new.
  13. I’ve got the back seat out - fabricating a new package tray. You can see what I mean about the condition of the seats. The fact they look this good after 45 years is amazing.
  14. I see that Ames (and others) list vinyl replacement seat covers (without the fabric inserts), and I may end up going that route. I’m just so impressed that the original vinyl parts of the seats look almost new, I hate to let the original covers go. But, I understand that it is unlikely I’ll find fabric that matches the original inserts. I foresee many hours in my future searching the internet before I give in. 😊
  15. Thanks! I definitely would want a pro to do the work. Wasn’t sure whether there was any chance of finding a source for the replacement material. Never heard the term “nylon cord,” so wouldn’t even have known what to ask for. The gift of your knowledge is much appreciated.
  16. The seats on my ‘68 Catalina are in remarkably good shape. They are vinyl, with cloth inserts. The vinyl parts are pristine, but the cloth inserts are baked and torn along the top of the seat backs. Is it possible to get material to replace the cloth inserts, and rebuild the seat covers?
  17. Hey. Quick update on this topic. I had to order the relay - took forever to get to “Middle of Nowhere Wyoming” - and then I couldn't find time to get back to the project. Anyway the new relay fixed the problem. One item off the list. Not sure how many more on that list, but there are a lot of digits.
  18. I’m still willing to get down there - you know, now that I have my Life Alert button to call for help getting up. 😂
  19. Thoughts: I think you guys are right - this is an electric, rather than a vacuum problem. The fuse off the back of the alternator checks out as good. Without it, there is no fan at all. Since the blower turns, I don’t think it’s a blower motor problem. Since I get the low, medium 1 and medium 2 fan speeds, I don’t think it’s a blower motor resistor problem. Since the AC fan fan relay controls the high fan setting, I’m thinking it’s a fan relay problem. What do you think?
  20. On my 68 Catalina, the AC fan works on each speed except High. On that setting, the fan stops, and there is a sound of a vacuum leak behind the dash. As I recall, in those days they used a vacuum based control system for HVAC. Dried out vacuum line? Or worse? DP
  21. That supercharged V6 was a lot of fun!
  22. Thanks. I’ll post some pics as the project progresses.
  23. Hi. My first Pontiac was my Mom’s 1963 Catalina 4 door sedan. I worked on that car as a pre-teen. Next came my 2004 Grand Prix GTP Comp. Loved that car, and would have happily purchased another Pontiac, if the company had not ceased to exist. Now I am restoring a 1968 Catalina 2 door coupe. DP
