  1. I was 15 when I found my 1971 GTO. I was and still am a avid motorcycle rider, but I knew when I got 15, I probably should start looking for a car. My parents owned a 1972 Luxury LeMans and it drove great and was fast. Even though it was a 350 2bbl, it could roast the tire at 30mph just by stomping it to the floor. I got to learn to drive in different cars, but it was my favorite to practice and drive. So I knew I had to have a LeMans. But we couldn't find one no matter where we looked and I was beginning to lose hope. So one day my dad and I were driving out to a local Honda motorcycle dealer to get some tune up parts for my bike. To our surprise, they started selling used cars. I was telling my dad as we were pulling in that I didn't want a car anymore, I would just ride motorcycles. I was mad and down about not finding a LeMans. Then all of a sudden, he pointed and said, you wouldn't want that car? I didn't know what to think, it had Ram Air scoops in the hood and a big wing on the back. I asked what that was. He said a GTO, it is a little better than a LeMans. So we asked about it and they said they just got it in and was hesitant about selling it because they hadn't had time to check it out. We started it and the oil gauge would barely come up but we saw it flickered for a second. My dad whispered in my ear, "Sending Unit". So I got the car for $900 and I still have it to this day, along with the 1972 LeMans.
