Yes the whisker spring accepted a 8/32 bolt bent just right with a vertically adjustable bubbler nub on the end. The throttle body arm  hits it on the nose and action occurs.  A new NOS switch or similar is best but I run this rig on its reputation and not money. 🍺

Put away the snowblower soon after ,,,

Keep up the great work guys/gals. If anyone is working on a mid sixties trans kick down switch I solved replacing mine the other day. Honeywell whisker switch using the original bracket flipped around. For some reason it’s even the right Color👍

More on the center caps for the spinners. Found a friend with a 3D printer and some ideas. Prototype done. I think it’s looking good, technology meets vintage!

Greetings. Man o man we need combustion. So much so that every so on we buy another motor of sorts. Stick them under this or over under that and use them as intended with much successes or little, up to you. Not just referencing auto mobile folks all though most importantly that is bringing us together. I have a shit load of motors with spark plugs and gas tanks under this common examination. Trucks can be included in certain circles as cars in Canada, that always annoys me and my kind but I’ll use it for simplicity,,,

(5) V8 motors 4 stroke variety in “cars”. (2) 4 cylinder  4 stroke variety  in”cars” (3) 4 cylinder “ATV” 4 stroke motors Quad and Sleds (8) 4 strokes in yard equipment, snow blower, rider lawn mower, schreader , log splitter, water pump, yeah the kids (2) push mowers, weed whacker major(1) Super sweet mercury 4 stroke outboard in the boat(1) Generator(3) 2 stroke boat motors for kicking around the boat and zodiac  (3) 2 stroke yard equipment, chain saw, weed whacker minor, hedge trimmer,,,stop me now

Probably missed a few in the back 40. How the heck are batteries ever going to replace these Jerry can loving things. I will always be a grease monkey I figure. Keep the rubber side down people.

Yeah I looked at some of those center caps before posting. Was thinking the same thing, they would finish that section up nice and would “deal” with the pitting.  The diameter of the spinner center is 80mm, 3.15 inch and the largest I could find was 2 15/16. Pretty close. Issue may be the center section of the spinners is concave and not flat across so can’t just stick them on there I figure. I’ll keep pondering my next move and post back. Thanks for the ideas people. 
 

Ha I just might use the drop your drawers sticker on the  bumper, or maybe under the deck lid by the “Jacking” instructions. 

Great thread, I will probably make someone cringe. Time for a spinner hub cap refurbish. All of the black paint in the grooves was faded, peeling, chipped or completely missing. The center spinners themselves same thing with various stages of pitting.  Man I don’t even know if it have the perseverance to put black paint back in these grooves, the masking job alone would drive me off the wall. To make it all even more fun the grooves are tapered wider towards the outer lip. I’d love to know how Pontiac painted these back in the day probably a template of some sort,,,😬

Ok so I been thinking about owning this car for 52 years just cause it’s a Pontiac. I get the thing and it has no factory vacuum gage. Not sure if that was even a thing in the Bonny, maybe a option. Why would I care,,,

My father RIP sold new GM cars for local dealership and in 1970 he would bring demonstrators home for lunch and weekends. I was neck high to this at the time and old enough to remember to this day. I was eye ball to beak in front of a GTO judge enduro bumper.  Every demo he grabbed was a poncho. He bragged about Pontiac as his favourite and had access to the Buick’s and Cadillacs at the same time (we owned a Buick) This went on till 1975 or so. I can’t recall what car it was in but the vacuum gage I spied tweaking around curiously during our rides was as enduring as the enduro. I asked dad about it and am sure he explained in full detail but I had no clue at the time, I was 6.
 

So looking for an original gage cause I just gotta have one right now, compelled by something way back in that grey matTer. Nope! I can’t spend this months mortgage on a NOS gage. Moved onto this auto gage which just happens to fit bang on into the factory 65 Bonny bezel. I have a spare bezel shown here, no cutting or mods of any kind. I gotta get under there to work I on the heater anyhow, in she will go and my ride transformed,,,

Thanks folks. At this point still going through it. I’ve only driven it about 100 feet so far off the trailer. Cabin fever up here till spring so classics all tucked away for a month or so yet, tinkering with it getting a hit list on the go for now, will need some input from the crew. 

It don’t need much on the inside, heater temp controls don’t work, vacuum operated, checking for leaks etc.

Saying hello. Parked a nice 65 Bonneville in the garage just recently. 2 door hard top 389 4V auto. This car deserves some love I figure, seems like a great site. Cheers.
