Loose Gas Cap

Featured Replies

i noticed that my gas cap is loose. i went to the gas station today, finished and as i was going to close it...it didnt. tried 2 more times and nothing. easy pull off. i try again, push in a bit harder to see if that works...well, this time it worked but its not a snug fit. you can pull on it and feels loose. also, the click noise it makes when you close it, it does a completely different click noise now. soo...what do i do? fix, replace? and wheres cheaper?

get a locking gas cap. I had my gas cap stolen (WTF, I know)

it costs like less then $10 at autozone.

The locking mechanisim might be shot. Autozone has them for $10-$15. Is it throwing any EVAP codes?

"Borrow" one from another G6.... :lol2:

Jk.... stop being cheap and buy another!!!

and nothing Chaos, i thought it was gonna show something. and still nothing yet. ill probably go buy one today, need to get oil and filter too.

i'd reccomend a factory G6 gas cap, some aftermarket caps may not fit correctly and throw an Evap leak code.

you know what?? beamer beemer bimmer. :P:blink:

i replaced already a while ago. i thought i posted but i guess not. and its from Kragens...and its doing good. no CELs.

Then LOCK this Mo fo up!!!

My van was only 3 years old when I had to replace my stock cap. But mine was owned 60k in Hawaii, gonna venture to guess all that head dried up the gasket because mine was throwing a code, and I flipped. Now every once in a while my gas guage goes funky too, but, I'm not going to mess with it, I know I can make it about 320 miles on a tank of gas, so if I don't believe the guage, I just go to the station when I'm at about 280 :PGM's are funky these days :)
