I was inspired by this statment... thought you would get a kick out of this

But why not put the engine on the trunk... that transplant seems more easier than turning the engine, finding a tranny, etc.

You will need to cut some sheetmetal but at least we have a ton of space in the back for this.....

Sorry this is such a bad picture but i went to a meet for TheChicagoGarage.org about 2 years ago and there was this guy who had a unique take on AWD.....

He put a 3800 Series II SC motor in the front and then did the same thing to the back.. Both ran off of the same gas pedal and they each had their own gear selector. i wish i would have gotten better pictures but this is what i got.

You have to commend the guy for trying it since getting the engines to behave identically so one motor will not drag the other down. The separate shifters for the transmissions all I see is the front going forward and the rear backwards.

Personally I would have found it easier to transplant a drivetrain from an Equinox, Terrain, or even a AWD Safari.

about the dragging the other motor down thing... with two automatics it really wouldnt be a problem. if one motor had a tad more power, it would simply take more of the effort needed to push the car off the other engine. dual engine manual trans would probably need to be matched a little closer, but it still would only have a problem with one out-revving (and then spinning the tires) the other at max throttle and high rpm.
