For 2016, Chevrolet will offer three Z71 Midnight Special editio

As seems to happen almost every 24 hours, midnight is coming ’round again, with Chevrolet announcing still more Midnight Edition vehicles. This time the recipients are Silverado and Colorado pickups.

This familiar option package, which also darkens the Impala and the Trax, is much as you’d expect: black paint, black trim replacing most all of the chrome (including the Bow Tie emblem), and polished black wheels. The 2016 Colorado is now available as a Midnight Edition in top-level Z71 trim, joining the previously announced mid-level LT. The updated 2016 Silverado 1500 now offers essential blackness in Z71 trim, as does the 2500 HD model.

As Z71 baddies go, these trucks have all the same goodies as their daylight-hour brothers, including a modified off-road suspension, locking rear differential, Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires, hill-descent control, a transfer-case shield, and a spray-in bedliner. Pricing for the package starts at $1500, with deliveries starting this spring. If you’re too impatient to play the waiting game, buy a black Sierra, or just go all-white.
