Car and Driver: Chevrolet Adds Midnight Edition Trax Featuring All-Black Everything

2016 Chevrolet Trax Midnight Edition

-

Midnight comes once every 24 hours, and Chevrolet is approaching that sort of frequency with its release of “Midnight Edition” versions of its models. Featuring dark trim and black wheels, existing Midnight Editions based on the Chevy Impala, Silverado, and Colorado now will be joined by a Trax Midnight Edition. The theme continues.

Of all the Midnight Edition–eligible Chevrolets (essentially, any Chevrolet that hasn’t already been Midnighted) the subcompact Trax crossover seems the most deserving. That’s because unlike the Impala, Silverado, or Colorado, the Trax in standard form is a wallflower, anonymity rolling. The Midnight treatment doesn’t transform the Trax from vehicular wallpaper to, say, a Corvette, but it adds a dose of purposefulness to the little guy. Based on the up-level LTZ trim, the Trax Midnight Edition wears blacked-out wheels, headlight bezels, trim, door handles, and even a darkened rear license-plate embellishment. Inside, the seats feature gray accents and piping.

Outside of the Midnight pieces, the Trax is otherwise totally stock. Buyers can add the Midnight effect to the $26,125 2016 Trax LTZ for $500 starting this February. Put another way, you’ll need to wait through 30-something midnights to buy this latest Midnight Edition.
