headrests

Recommended Posts

When we were doing may seats during the restoration, I noticed the headrests are not centered on the backs of the split bench. They are possitioned to the outside and not directly behind your head. Once we had the seats down to the frames I ground the reciever pockets off and welded them back in in the center. They look allot better now being centered.

Why were they so badly off in the first place? They came that way from the factory? An old upholsterer really screwed it up during a previous restoration?

Normally I'd agree with you. However, back in the days of "just run it" shop foreman and supervisors (in the 70s especially), quality was bad at times by today's standards. Gaps were terrible. So I suppose that a substitute working filling in for someone who is sitting in a deer blind during firearm deer season, yeah, I think it could happen. I am just not certain why it got past the final inspection or repair stations like that though. Or if it was the work of a hack interior restoration done after the car was built and before Alrob got the car.
