RSS Video: Motor Trend holds World's Greatest Drag Race for the third time

As part of Motor Trend's Best Driver's Car competition, the buff book has held its third iteration of the World's Greatest Drag Race. With an airfield and a dozen of the world's finest performance cars at its disposal (oh, and a helicopter), the MT team did what any good group of enthusiasts would do, and tried to figure what car could cover a quarter mile the quickest. World's greatest drag race, indeed.

The contestants, as MT points out, cover a huge variety of engine types, drivelines, aspiration types and body styles, making for a genuinely varied and interesting field of competitors. Here's the full list of cars taking part.

I know its Motor Trend, but this reminds me of Car and Driver. I hate that magazine. My dad gets it and they get their rocks off on praising foreign cars while being overly-critical with American whenever possible.

Welcome to mainstream media

Reading that the Impala got "the best sedan" of the year title, even comparing foreign luxury sedans shocked me. Not because I didn't think the new Impala was good but because everyone hates on the Big 3.

Perhaps we should outsource the automotive media and replace them.....never mind. It's been done and they still stink.

For the life of me, I can not understand all the praise that goes to foreign automakers and the condemnation to domestics in the media. Bad quality is bad quality and all automaker have had their share. So I am not trying to pick anyone out. Still I'll bet the fact that GM winning the J.D. Power survey this year has the liberal miedal all really scratching their heads right now.

I've done comparisons before between review articles that is like a Toyota vs a Chevy and they criticize Chevy for one thing then mention the same thing on the Toyota but say it's a positive. I agree that just because I am a GM nut that GM shouldn't get special treatment in the media/reviews, all I want is fairness and for the media to get their head out of foreign car company's butthole
