chrome trim for convertible at back near trunk

on the convertible there is a chrome piece that goes around the rear section of body, when you put the top down that a cover goes on to go over the top. the chrome piece is loose on one side I grab it and pull it back but it doesn't stay. was thinking of giving it a tap with a rubber hammer to get it on better, is there a clip or something under it that's missing or is it just my luck.
