Could be the plastic slider broke. They are available at most part stores in the HELPS rack or across the counter. Pic's would help, if you could.

went to Napa, advanced auto and auto zone looking online and ordered something close I hope will work have to modify where they go in car, hoping to find OEM parts but not much luck.

I also get a well equipped paper Pontiac catalog from Classic Industries. Have you thought about checking the "Hollander Parts Interchange Manual" for the years 1969-1971 to see what other vehicles used these same window parts? It is highly likely the other GM A-body cars used these parts and I have collected several of these books. But now, there is a web site.

I got my books from eBay but I don't see any of the relevant Hollander books listed for now.

More to B52’s point, the GM A-bodies share a lot of parts. So long as a part is not unique to a specific make and model, such as interior or exterior parts that uniquely makes a GTO a GTO, then chances are good that the part you are looking for was used by multiple cars and across divisions.

In this case it stands to reason that a window part you need was used by Pontiac, Chevrolet, Buick and Oldsmobile. For example, a couple of years ago I needed a new star adjuster wheel for one of my rear drum brakes. None of my local parts store carried it for my Lemans. I asked if they had one for a 70-72 Chevelle….bingo! They had it in stock.

So depending on the part, looking for alternatives is a good idea.
