1973 Trans Am 455 manual driveshaft prop

Featured Replies

My 1973 Trans Am project car is missing the manual driveshaft prop assembly. Does anyone know of a potential donor or wrecking yard that might have one?

Welcome, where are you located?

It may be a good idea to either purchase or get a new one made, as I do not tend to trust a 50+ year old driveshaft with an unknown history, as failures can ruin your day at the very least. Also what transmission do you have? It may effect the yoke you need.

I would purchase a new one, as a good used one will probably cost you at least $100 plus shipping, it will need new U-joints, and possibly a new yoke. All that can easily add up to as much or even more than the cost of a new shaft. They usually come balanced and fully assembled.

Unless you are going for absolute pure stock I would look into it. Most metro areas have good driveshaft shops that build replacements for heavy Trucks and construction equipment.

I have a rebuilt M22. Where can I find the OEM specs, diameter, length, thickness? I know the spline count.

Thanks for your help!
