This is a 1965 C-code Ford Falcon Sprint hardtop, running its original Ford 289 Windsor V8 with an original Autolite 2-barrel carb and a Ford C4 column-shift auto, along with factory power steering. Built at Ford’s Lorain, Ohio plant on 13 March 1964, it left the factory in Arcadian Blue with Light & Medium Blue Sierra vinyl trim, bucket seats and centre console.

The car spent years stored after the original owner passed away (evidently his wife used it as a garage laundry bench, because she couldn't bring herself to part with it).
A later owner had the top of the car repainted in the correct Arcadian Blue before storing it again. It was imported to Australia in 2022 and has only travelled 1,170 miles since, with the odometer now reading just under 33,000 miles, which are believed to be genuine. The overall condition of the car certainly supports this.

Mechanically it remains largely original. The 289 runs nicely, the C4 shifts well, and it has been fitted with a dual exhaust. Upon its arrival in Australia it’s had all fluids replaced, the C4 automatic was serviced, radiator reconditioned and new thermostat fitted. All new brake shoes were also fitted to the original drum brakes.

Upon purchase the car was thoroughly checked over, which included a Compression and Leakdown Test, and a detailed underbody inspection for rust. Other than needing some minor oil leaks addressed and new water pump, the car passed its Safety Certificate Inspection with ease.
To improve driveability it has also benefited from a carburettor overhaul, new gas shocks on all corners, and new, lower Mustang-spec front springs.

Currently sitting on period-correct Cragar mags with El Dorado tyres, the rare original 1965 Sprint hubcaps also came with the car.

This is a very tidy, largely original Sprint that is not something you see very often in Australia.

Beautiful Paul. Drove a few in the day, road in many! Sits on the same platform as the Mustang! Which usually gets lost in understanding to most because of the Mustang fame.

The Cougar comes from the Mustang platform as well. Many parts will swap. Awesome find Paul. I have the sequential tail lights module from a 67 Cougar wired into my 6 light 66 GTO.
