Thought you guys might enjoy these!

The first one is as described, the historic flight of two super corsairs from the Cleveland air races. #57 & #74! These are two of the five that my father-in-law (Dick Becker) & Cook Cleland flew to victory. Bob Odegaard rebuilt both #57 & #74 after they were found wasting away. Unfortunately Bob died in 2012 when he crashed #74 into the ground! These machines were monsters! Built as 3000hp single engine fighters capable of delivering air to surface bombs & torpedoes as well When Dick & Cook finished with their rebuild for the air races they were at 4800hp! They also removed 3 feet from the end of the wings! This made them faster, but much more difficult to maneuver! Which made them deadly. Notice in the second video towards the end Ed mentions about the shorting of the wing! While he gets it a little wrong, he say the removal of the tip radius when it was three feet.

In the end it was unfortunate that Bob tried the aerobics that day! The super corsairs were not a low altitude aerobatic plane & with the wing modification they really were not. Dick told me many times what those planes were like & that too many died underestimating their power! I think it was #18; that one of their other pilots during the 1948 race fly into the ground! Today only two F2G super corsairs remain & & only one can fly! #57!

The next two are Pontiac Grand Prix commercials.

Sounds like a Yooper doing the ice boat commercial! Holy wash Detroit eh!!!!

Remember, in Da Yoop, a fin isn’t part of a fish, he’s your neighbor, eh!!!!

I love the Corsairs. Sadly they aren’t that many flying WWII left. Parts, maintenance and people skilled enough to fly and maintain them is getting worse every year.

There were only 10 of the F2G super corsairs built! While they were built for the war, it was right at what became the end of the war! So the order was cancelled & they never saw combat! Admiral Halsey after the “47” race asked what he; Cook needed to win, he answered “the F2Gs! They became surplus in a week. Cook bought the five that were built for aircraft carrier use! The other five were for ground use.
