Decoding a 1960 Catalina drag race cowl plate

Featured Replies

I have been approached by someone to help dispose of 2 1960 Pontiacs.  One is 2Dr. Hardtop that was supposedly purchased new for drag racing and had (now gone) a 389 Tri-power engine in it and it was a 4-speed.  I am trying to decoded the cowl plate:

-Style 60-2137 which means 1960 Catalina 2dr HT

-Body PO 9490   ???  (assume this refers to a special purchase order)

-Trim 210   ???

-Paint AA which means all Black

-ACC   B-F-KX-DT   ????

PO - Pontiac MI assembly plant

9490 - Production sequence number. The 9,490th car produced for 1960 at the Pontiac assembly plant. Some plants this may mean the 9490th Catalina. Other plants it may mean the total numbers of cars (regardless of the model) produced to date.

Trim 210 - Catalina - Maroon color

Accessory codes are virtually non-existent. It might be easier to order the PHS documentation to determine what the car came with.
