2.56 rear gear peg leg

Featured Replies

I have my stock factory 2.56 rear peg leg. I have a 3 speed TH400. I love the 2.56 gears. But I don't like the peg leg. I want to add a limited slip but I want to find one with 2.56 gears. Does anyone make them?

If your car is primarily street driven, and not seriously drag raced, than a quicker and possibly cheaper (nothing is cheap when working with the BOP 8.2 axle) you may want to consider purchasing a 3 series carrier and a ring gear spacer to let you keep the 2.56 gears. Other wise you are going to have to search for a stock used 2 series posi carrier. They exist, but they don't pop up for sale very often. No one currently makes or sells new ones that I am aware of. O know the link to the spacer says "Chevy" but about the only part that interchanges between the Chevy axle and the BOP axle is the ring gear spacer. Not I would check the thread engagement of the kits bolts as the ones I used on my old 66 Lemans only engaged about 2 threads. We decided to purchase longer ones. And be aware that depending on the bolt size of your original axle you may have to enlarge your ring gear bolt holes to use it on the new carrier.
