Convertible Top Lift Cylinders

Featured Replies

Hi. I'm looking for info on 1964 Lemans convertible top lift cylinders. We are replacing the two original cylinders with new. Original Parts Group sent us two different cylinders. One is for 1964-1967. The other one is for 1968-1972. (See page 72 of the 2025 OPG 1964-1974 GTO, Tempest, Lemans catalog). My question is will the 1968-1972 cylinder work for a 1964. We have not started the project yet. I am holding off until I know if this part will work. Also, called OPG twice and hold times are just too long.

Cyls will work, they are same size. You might run into a prob with fittings/hose.  Brass fittings on plastic, make sure they are correct and matching for both sides before beginning your project.  Good luck.  We love pic's and lets us see your project.

I would also like to add that you may need new hoses. I had an original fluid line fail after almost 50 years (nothing lasts anymore). I purchased a replacement from National Parts Depot, The thread count/pitch on the new line didn't match original RAMs, forcing me to get new RAMs. I was ticked! So check both sets of threads (top and bottom) to make sure they match and seal on your cylinders.
