I have looked through several pages of old posts, but have not been able to find anything on this. My '64 does not have power brakes. I have a parts car that does. Apparently you could get the power brakes if it was ordered that way. My question is, can I just bolt the power set up in place of my manual system? I'm still staying with the drums, just want a little help with applying the pressur

If your parts car is the same (or very similar) model to your driver, then it should be a straightforward swap, provided you use ALL the parts, ie. master cylinder pushrod, booster, master and associated plumbing. You may want to consider upgrading to a dual master whilst you have everything apart but it probably should be plumbed by someone who knows what they're doing. It's a worthwhile upgrade (failsafe brakes) which I am yet to get done on my own car - by a professional.

I'm certainly no expert on this so if anyone else wants to chime in, please do.

I agree with Fitzy. A dual master cylinder is much more safe than a single pot master cylinder.

Are you thinking of converting to front disc brakes too? If so, you definitely need the dual master cylinder and a proportional valve.

Yes Keith

straight swap to bolt in the booster and up grade the master cylinder to one of these ….

Rock auto have them and brand new boosters as well

you will not need a proportioning valve with this master cylinder as its a drum drum unit

and the drums on 64s are pretty dam good as long as you dont want to race the car !!!

Hey guys, thanks for the info!!! I don't have any plans on the disc brakes (yet). But, long story short, the parts car with the restored frame and rear end actually has really good metal and is already stripped down. I will try and get some good pictures when it warms up this week. Sooo.... the plan is to drive the driver while doing as much to the "parts car" as possible before I have to start switching stuff over. I would like to put a power booster on it though and was going to try and use one of the two that came with the parts car. I just wasn't sure if it was possible.
