Battery issues, shorts and g6 running lean

Featured Replies

I have a 2002 grand prix and a 2006 g6 are the batteries interchangeable? I have had issues ever since I switched the two batteries and I have changed every sensor and filter I can think of.

A 2002 Grand Prix takes a size 75 battery with about 650 cold cranking amps (CCA).

A 2006 G6 also takes a size 75 battery with 630 CCA with a 3.5L V6 engine.

So yes, size wise, they are the interchangeable. I would be concerned with the age of the batteries. Anything over 3 years old is bound to start to deteriorate and loosing CCA. A newer battery is less likely to have problems or be bad.

Another suggestion I have is to take each of your charged batteries to your local auto parts store and have them do a battery load test. The battery maybe charged but it fails under starter load. A load test will determine that. These are usually done for free.
