Tensioner position

Featured Replies

My 2004 Pontiac Montana tensioner is aligned with the pulley on top and all the belt diagrams show the pulley pointing down. It has a alignment pin and can only install one way. I can't find a way to install the belt and tension it when all the diagrams don't match. It's a 3400 SFI engine

Can you provide us a picture(s) of how your Montana is currently aligned please? My first thought is someone installed it wrong, or got the wrong size belt and somehow got it work despite being "wrong". That my initial impression but that doesn't mean I am correct either.
