Tire specs/size for 65 Catalina

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I have a very simple question, and hope someone can point me in the right direction.   We have a 65 Cataline 2DHT, and I need new tires.  The original specs call for 8.25x14.   However when I try to locate and 210/80R14 or 210/70R14, I can't find any (perhaps not looking in the right place).   My question is whether 215/70R14 would work fine on the Catalina?

Thank you in advance.

My 65 GP is the same as yours: 6" steel rims will handle up to 215 tyres. I replaced mine with Maxxis whitewalls: 205/75R14. The '75' profile ensures the gearing remains largely the same and will give a slightly softer ride but will lose a little in cornering ability - none of these parameters are anything to worry about.
