'64 GTO bumpers...

Featured Replies

Is it impossible to find replacement bumpers for a '64 GTO? I can find just about any others in reproductions, but no luck on the '64.

If you cannot find reproductions, then you have to find good originals. These probably won't be cheap either. So brace yourself. You may have to buy a "parts car" to get what you need.....

Try contacting the following classic car wrecking yards. No guarantees they have what you are looking for in stock right away, but if they know you are looking they might be able to help. or give you a lead to somewhere else.

Franks Pontiac Parts - 29 Palms CA - https://www.frankspontiacparts.com/

Desert Valley Auto Parts - AZ - https://www.dvap.com/

CTC Auto Ranch - Denton TX - http://www.ctcautoranch.com/

Mind you there are a lot more classic car salvage yards across the country too. These are my top 3 favorites.

Also look for 1964 bumpers for the GTO, Tempest and Lemans in your local area swap meets, Craigslist listings, Facebook Marketplace, and eBay. Have you looked in Hemmings.com?

Since you live in Ohio, some other possibilities are attending the GTOAA national convention at Kingsport TN (Bristol) in June for the swap meet there. Also look to your local Pontiac-Oakland Club International chapter or GTOAA car shows and swap meets through out the summer.

The Pontiac Nationals at Norwalk Dragway in August for the swap meet.

Go to one of the Spring, Fall and/or GM/Chevrolet Nationals events at Carlisle PA (near Hershey) swap meet events. Carlisle is huge.

Download a copy of the latest issue of Smoke Signals from the Pontiac-Oakland Club International for the want ad sections at the back. Someone maybe selling '64 GTO parts.

Thanks very much for the info. I was hoping for reproductions, just for the time factor. It looks like I'll be removing mine and taking them to get re chromed...probably months to do it.

There are 2 bumper restoration shops I know of in Mich.  If they don't have an exchange,  they restore yours.  Are yours missing or  severely damaged?  They straighten and remove small dents in the process.   I'm sure there must be shops in Ohio.

Crap Justa. I forget completely about these guys even thought they are local to me. Yeah, they do great repair work. Just this level of repair is not cheap. But it is OEM quality.

Wolfman - best advise I can give you is to talk to local car guys about chromers in your area. See who they recommend. Then go talk the chromers themselves, tour their shop, see their work, get estimates and timelines from them. Then make your choice. Don't be in a rush.

Depending on their backlog and the amount of repair your bumpers require, yeah, it could be awhile. but the results should be worth it in the end.

I sent Wolfman the link, because Flintstone has bumpers in stock ready to roll, swap your CORE.   Might have JUSTA what he needs.  Worth a call or Email.
