1957 Air Conditioning

I would like to add AC to my car.  Anyone on this site added AC to a 57 Pontiac?  If so, would like to see pics and info of unit used and interior shots of install.  Thank you

Jerry, I have a Vintage air system in my '57, but it's not very pretty hanging below the dash, and the vents are just the standard Vintage Air plastic ones. A lot of the guys on the Chevy forum I belong to fit the original OE vents (or repos) by cutting into the dash, but I'm not game to do this. Below is the car when I first purchased it 10 years ago with the awful steering wheel, (I replaced it with a small diameter '57 Chev wheel) and you can see the vents and controls below the dash. There is no room inside the dash, which is where the ECU unit is mounted.

Since we have already discuss Vintage Air as an option and it's pros and cons. Let's consider another alternative. Back in the day, most cars didn't come with air conditioning but some folks would later add it as an under dash unit. Have you considered a period correct looking under dash unit?

Old Air Products makes a complete universal kit and I think there are other makers as well.

64 Kiwi, No I bought the car pretty much as you see it.  I owned the car 4 years ago and sold it.  Kicked myself afterwards and then I had a chance to buy it back, which I did a couple months ago.
