1976 Grand Prix 50th anniversary edition

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I’m new to the forum. I have a question that I figured would be answered well on here. I was offered to buy a 1976 Grand Prix 50th anniversary edition for a very small price. The car is beat for the most part. Hasn’t ran in 10 years, dashboard rusted, filthy, moldy, you get what I’m saying. But from what I see the car is so rare it might be worth buying regardless. All headlights, windows, ornaments, and original wheels are intact. Has stock 455 as well. Is 3,000 worth paying for it? Thank you!

The simple answer is it worth $3000 to you?

Hagerty Collector Car insurance values a 1976 Grand Prix in #4 (Fair) condition to be worth $5,800. So if you believe this car is south of that condition, then $3k may be about right. A fully restored, concurs quality (#1) restored 1976 Grand Prix is currently worth about $28-29K. So the question would be - is it worth it to restore it? Or will you be underwater in parts and labor when you are done?

Now if owning such a unique car is your dream, then do what you like. It becomes a labor of love at that point.
