rocker arm ratio

Featured Replies

My rocker ratio is 1.5.  Is it that critical or can I go with 1.52 without causing issues ?

I can't find anything in any of my literature that would say moving from a 1.5 to 1.52 rocker would be detrimental to your engine.

The best way to be sure is if the engine is already apart, you install a piston to the crank, put modeling clay on the top of the piston, install the gasket and put the head on, torque it down, install the push rods and new rockers and torque to spec, and rotate the engine a few times. Disassemble the engine and measure the clay thickness at it's shallowest point.

Thanks Frosty for you input. Since I Posted this and after your response I had ordered one of the 1.52 rockers to see if this would work. As you know, retailers do not have information on length / height/etc on a rocker arm.  It turns out this rocker is to long and goes beyond the valve stem.  I Did finally find the correct rocker at Kanter.com.  Exact rocker/ rocker ball and 5/16" nut.  #RA44044K.  Thanks again for you input.
