GM Employee Retires after 67 Years with the Company

Featured Replies

This article reminds me of my own paternal grandfather, who worked for over 51 years at Buick Motor Division in Flint. He walked out the door for the last time on May 31, 1971. He drove the 2 millionth Buick Skylark off the assembly line 2 weeks earlier. I have pictures of that event.

This is quite true. My grandfather held the record at GM for quite a while. A secretary my dad and I both worked with at AC Spark Plug broke my grandfather's record. She worked for 55 years. This is the first person I've heard go well over 60 years.

My father is still working at GM with 53yrs. No plans of retirement either. I would of left a lot sooner LOL

If you love what you do and the people you work with, it's not really work. I wish I had a career like that. Sadly, I never have. You're dad is one lucky man.

And that is why he stays. That and my mom drives him nuts LOL

My mom had a bumper sticker on the bar unit in the basement of their house. It read "Retirement Means: Twice as Much Husband, Half as Much Pay!"
