Nope I have all season tires on my Envoy, plus the electronic 2WD/4WD is handy for winter driving. The boy has full time 4WD on the Hummer H3. Only the wife has 2WD/FWD on the Traverse.

In fact, I don't think I have purchased snow tires since I owned my old '80 Buick Regal.

On a car with manual power brakes and a manual transmission, I was perfectly happy with 4 seasons ... Good 4 seasons with plenty of tread left. But with cars equipped with ABS, winters are must have equipment. Without ABS, when your wheels slide, you're in control. You can feather the pedal, you can stomp it, or you can let off all together. With ABS, the computer will fight any attempt on your part. You're along for the ride.  And if they can't find enough traction .. ABS will leave you without any brakes at all. Been there, done that. FORD that.

As for 4wd and AWD ... IMHO that only gets you to the scene of the accident easier.
