  1. Figured it out, I needed the bracket that I left on the old transmission. The install went smoothly once I had all the parts. New issue, the reverse plunger on the shifter does not plunge….I had tried to clean it up while it was out of the car and may have just bunged it up. If it’s not one thing it’s another.

    Have a great day guys

  2. Hi Guys,

I ordered on a Super T-10 from Summit. I waited a month, check compatibility on their site. It arrived Monday, I booked today off to install it and the ORM Hurst shifter won’t bolt onto the tailhousing.  The bolt pattern is off and the top bolt is significantly too large. I called Richmond and they have never had a different pattern going all the way back to 1988. I called Hurst (Holley)to see if there is a bracket and they don’t have one but are willing to sell me a new shifter and accessory package. I’m a little frustrated that nobody has any questions in the compatibility sections about shifters.

Any ideas fellas? Tips? I am rapidly running out of nice weather!!

    Thanks guys…

  3. Hi Guys,

My transmission is noisy, bearings I’m guessing. It is the original trans, it shifts fine and doesn’t slip. I am looking to get it rebuilt and need to know what transmission is in it. I assumed it was a Muncie but saw that GM stopped putting Muncies in cars in 1974. Any ideas? Borg & Warner maybe?

Thanks guys, I appreciate any feedback.

  4. I have been a Pontiac guy for 30+ years and a complete novice to mechanics. In the late 80’s I owned a 1972 T/A. At the time I knew I loved it but I had no idea what I had and sold it when the first baby came along…🙄. I found a 1976 Firebird Formula with 69000 miles that was in good shape. It needed some tinkering, I put in a new headliner, new door sills, new door handle, new window sweeps, new valve cover gaskets, oil change, filters, package tray, weatherstripping. Those I could do and I thought why does everyone say these cars cost so much. Then I sent out my Quadrajet to get rebuilt. That was a big bill. Once I got it back on the car I couldn’t get it to run right, there were more vacuum leaks than a Hoover factory. I took it to the carb guy, thinking it would be simple for an expert. 😂. Another big bill and now I know what everyone was talking about. Cars running good, looks good and is so much damn fun to drive. I had forgotten the smells, the noise, the creaks and the visceral joy of these cars.

Happy to be here, I love seeing the cars you guys put on here. They are history and need to be preserved.
