Hey bud I’ll definitely start checking out more posts and topics when I get a chance. We are paying $1.50 a litre here “Alberta is a major oil and gas province”and we think that’s bad, $3 ouch 😣

Hey Chris thanks for your interest bud you sound like a great guy! I think the mufflers are a 3” thrush. We come from different worlds but still have lots in common 😁 Let me know if I can help you at all with your build! Cheers!!

Hey Chris looks like you and I have the same interests lol. I am also part kiwi on my moms side from what I’ve been told. Here is a video I found from 2019 not sure how great the sound will come through. The idle is around 800-1000rpm here. Once the car is in gear it sounds quite a bit more lumpy. I also have electronic cut outs installed just off the headers with the button wired under the dash for the fun factor lol. It’s crazy loud and lumpy with them open and pretty tame sounding with them closed. When we dyno tested the car we did pulls with the cutouts open and closed to see the hp difference and it made about 15hp more with them open but was deafening to say the least lol. The guy running the dyno builds, tunes and races mopar mostly and was really impressed with the power outputs of the Pontiac. He said we could definitely pull more power out of the motor if we gave it more carburetion “850 or bigger” but would lose responsiveness at lower rpm. I like it with the Holly 750 double pumper it has instant response to melt the back tires and runs great.

Thanks frosty for the kind words! I’ll try to answer your questions the best I can. The shocks are a billet duel adjustable coil over setup. The suspension is made by TCI engineering and comes with everything you need, front clip with rack and pinion and 12” wilwood disk breaks all around, 4 link setup with currie 9”rear end with auburn gears and lockers and choice of gear ratio “I went with a 3.00 gear cause the tranny was geared so low”. Front spindles are also TCI with a 5” dropped profile I believe for the low rider look. The transmission is a 400 turbo with a 2200 RPM jaguar stall converter and a stage 2 shift kit. The suspension has frame rails that tie front to back and are rated for 1000hp. The motor is a 455 Pontiac block out of a 72 GTO. It was bored out .30 over and I purchased a kit from butler performance with 10.5 to 1 compression, fully assembled edelbrock 87cc round port aluminum heads, roller cam, head setup, balanced and blueprinted, eagle 4.25 forged crank, 750 holly double pumper the list goes on lol. It produces 450 rear wheel horsepower @ 5460 RPM and 507 ft-lbs torque at 4125 rpm on the dyno. I installed vintage air, wilwood master cylinder, March pulley setup, and a griffin rad with duel electric fans. I can’t tell you what kind of seats it has cause that was done all leather by cascade interiors in Calgary. It also had a 2000 watt alpine stereo system in it that I never use lol “ I want to hear the motor”.

I have been a die hard Pontiac gear head all my life. My dad purchased this car in 1968 and it was our family car till I was 5 “I was born in 70”. He sold it to my aunt and she had it parked in one of her rental properties for over 25 years. I wanted to buy it when I was 16 but she wouldn’t give in. She finally sold it to me when I was 30. I had a young family and no money to build the car for 10 years but always dreamed of it. Finally I was doing really well and got to the point where I could start building the car. I found the best restoration guys around and if you ask my wife I went way overboard lol. Two years and close to 150k later it was done. The guys who did the interior put it in their booth at the world of wheels in Calgary in 2013 and I won best in class and best custom of show. It was a life long dream that finally became reality for me and I couldn’t be happier. So all you guys out there with projects and dreams stick with it and one day it will happen!!
