  1. The transmission in my 57 Star Chief is acting up. Shifts great going forward. Also, reverse is fine also, until it warms up after a few miles. Then when I shift into reverse I have to give it some gas to start it moving and then it is very jerky. No slipping, just jerky. Fluid is fine, clean and no burnt smell. Ideas?? Thanks

My transmission works and shifts good except for quite a harsh shift from 2nd to 3rd.  Anyone else have this situation and if so, what was done to correct it?  Planning to take it to a transmission shop but they are really backed up so who knows when.  They claim to have a couple old timers working that are familiar with these transmissions????  Also, would a flush be recommended or just a fluid change?  I have no idea when this may have been done in the past.  Any insight into this would be appreciated.
