Forrest Gump famously stated that, “Stupid is as stupid does.” Well, you’d have to be pretty stupid to want to get behind the wheel of this thing: A 1986 EZGO Marathon golf cart that’s had its battery pack and electric motor ripped out and replaced with the engine out of a 2002 Suzuki GSX-R600.

-

“I’m pretty stupid and this thing scares the crap out of me,” the seller writes.

Scratch that. Turns out you’d have to be REALLY stupid to want to take this thing for a spin.

Thanks to Jalopnik, we now know about this motorcycle-powered machine that seems destined, one day, to test Darwin’s theory of natural selection. With 115 horsepower produced at 13,000 rpm, the 599 cc four-cylinder engine was dangerous enough when fitted in a bike. Now pair this engine with a golf cart’s short wheelbase. Plus, for some foolish reason, this machine was lifted and wears tall 16-inch wheels and tires. Making matters worse, it appears no one ever thought to put seat belts in this death trap.

-

The seller states that he bought the cart with the bike engine pre-installed and that he doesn’t know who did “the actual work.” He also adds that the cart gets “pretty nervous” when driven at more than 30 mph. Frankly, we get pretty nervous over the idea of 30 mph in this thing, let alone that a person bought the cart thinking it “would be fun for [his] kids.”

Those wanting to take their chances with this macabre tool will be pleased to know that it has the bike’s six-speed sequential gearbox and that the clutch operates via floorboard pedal, as in a car. Meanwhile, the donor bike’s gauge pod has been integrated into the cart’s dash, although the seller notes that the speedometer isn’t correct.

This misbegotten idea is currently being auctioned on eBay, where stupid people are offered the choice of bidding until the auction closes or simply pushing the “Buy It Now” button to pay $5,000. While we think driving this Frankenstein creation would pretty much guarantee some hefty hospital bills (or worse), we have to admit that the engine sounds pretty good in this video posted by the seller.
