-There are builds, and there are builds: This 1967 Ford Fairlane, created by Pure Vision Design in California, is the latter. It imagines what Ford’s racing division might have built in 1967, if it were unencumbered by the regulations of any one racing series, and it was named “The Best Ford at SEMA” when we first covered it about 18 months ago.

-

Steven Strope, the builder of this Fairlane, created what he calls a “what-if” prototype, imagining an experimental 1967 race car stuffed with the best parts Ford offered at the time. That means a 427 V-8 mated to a four-speed gearbox, and all kinds of competition-inspired drivetrain and chassis goodies. There’s a variety of references to Ford’s competition history found throughout the car, while the wheels are modeled after those found on a Lamborghini Miura.

-
Watch the whole video to soak in all the details of this amazing build. Then watch Jay Leno and Strope take it on a shakedown run, where it makes all sorts of glorious noises.
